July - October 2008
Work has taken a step back for a few months while I've fulfilled a long-held dream to buy a boat. Finding, buying, learning to sail, then bringing her up to Scotland for refit, and finally the voyage to a new base in Barcelona have all taken up much of the summer and all of my cash! But there's nothing happier than a man on his boat. Lots more on the Gemini page.

Co-authored a report for the UK government's Office of Climate Change Eliasch review:
Hardcastle, P.D. & Baird, D. (2008). Capability and cost assessment of the major forest nations to measure and monitor their forest carbon. Report for the Eliasch Review, Office of Climate Change.
The report will be published along with the Eliasch Review in late summer 2008.

February 2008
Completed a third mission to Kyrgyzstan, providing GIS, database, and biodiversity consultancy services to the PATCA (Pamir-Alai Transboundary Conservation Area) project. PATCA is funded by the European Union.
